Artothèque is a dynamic group grounded in the community and dedicated to promoting local talent. Its mission is much like that of the Fondation du Dr Julien: to make its services accessible to the general community. It recently donated 8 works of art, valued at some $10,500 to the Fondation du Dr Julien, a much-appreciated gift. These works will brighten up the Garage à musique’s hallways, where 700 children living in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve come to receive healthcare services, get help with their schoolwork and attend music classes.

Artothèque is a library with over 3000 works of art. It rents out these original works at very reasonable rates to individuals, businesses, institutions and audiovisual production companies. Artothèque is active in the community, organizing a wide variety of exhibits, creative workshops and training sessions open to artists and cultural workers. Its goals include supporting creative activities, as well as Québec and Canadian artists, offering an innovative alternative so that artwork gets out into the community, and promoting understanding of visual arts by the general public. Artothèqueis a not-for-profit organization and a Fondation des arts et métiers d’art du Québec (FAMAQ) initiative. It is also a member of the Société des musées du Québec (SMQ).
